How We Work
Inspection First
Every pool renovation or repair project starts with a thorough evaluation of the pool’s condition. Before finishes, tile, or resurfacing are discussed, we assess the structure, shell, bond beam, and surrounding conditions to identify what’s actually happening.
Cracks, movement, water loss, or surface failure often point to underlying structural or preparation issues. By inspecting first, we make sure the right work is recommended, not just the most visible work.
Clear Project Scope
Once the condition of the pool is understood, we define a clear scope of work. Whether it’s pool resurfacing, structural repair, coping replacement, or a full renovation, expectations are laid out before the project begins.
There’s no drifting scope and no mid-project surprises. You’ll understand what’s being addressed, why it’s necessary, and how the work will be completed.
Pools Built to Last
From gunite pool repairs to full renovations and selective new construction, the focus is on proper preparation, quality materials, and correct installation.
Surface prep is done correctly. Structural issues are handled before cosmetic finishes. Masonry, tile, and decking are integrated so everything works together, not just visually, but structurally.
The goal isn’t to make a pool look new for a season. It’s to complete the work in a way that holds up over time.
Origin & Experience
Greg Rose entered the pool industry in 1985, starting as a laborer with a determination to learn every aspect of pool construction. Working alongside experienced pool builders many of whom came from California, he sought out every opportunity to understand the craft from the ground up. Over time, he progressed to foreman, running his own crew and gaining firsthand experience in the structural, mechanical, and finish phases of gunite pool and spa construction.
In 2000, Greg launched his own business as a coping and tile subcontractor, building a reputation across Connecticut for quality workmanship and attention to detail. As demand grew, the work evolved naturally into pool renovation and structural repair. Areas that remain central to GS Rose Construction today. Years spent correcting improper installations and restoring aging pools shaped his philosophy: preparation matters, structural integrity comes first, and shortcuts always show up later.
Today, Greg remains hands-on in the evaluation and execution of projects. His name is on every job, and that accountability drives the standard. Whether the work involves pool renovation, structural repair, resurfacing, or selective new gunite construction, the approach is the same. Clear communication, proper scope, and workmanship done the right way the first time.
Serving Pool Owners Across Connecticut
GS Rose Construction works with homeowners throughout Connecticut who need experienced pool renovation, structural repair, resurfacing, and selective gunite pool construction. From shoreline properties to inland homes, each project is evaluated individually and completed with the same standards: proper preparation, clear scope, and workmanship built to withstand New England weather.
Southern Connecticut Pool Renovation & Structural Repair
Greenwich • New Canaan • Darien • Stamford • Norwalk • Westport
Lower Fairfield County homes often require high-end renovation work, including coping and tile replacement, pool resurfacing, replastering, and structural repairs for gunite pools exposed to coastal conditions and heavy seasonal use. Projects in this area frequently involve detailed masonry integration and finish work that complements established landscapes.
Central Connecticut Pool Renovation & Resurfacing
Hartford County • Glastonbury • West Hartford • Avon • Farmington • Manchester
In Central Connecticut, much of our work focuses on restoring aging gunite pools through structural correction, plaster replacement, bond beam repair, and full-scale renovation. Many properties in this region benefit from comprehensive updates that improve both durability and long-term performance.
Western Connecticut Gunite Pool Construction & Remodels
Ridgefield • Wilton • Weston • Newtown • Danbury • Litchfield County
Western Connecticut projects often include gunite pool renovations, lap pools, freeform designs, waterfalls, and integrated spas. Freeze–thaw cycles and terrain conditions make proper preparation critical, especially when resurfacing, replacing coping and tile, or coordinating poolside masonry and decking.
Eastern Connecticut Pool & Spa Services
Madison • Guilford • Old Lyme • Essex • Norwich • Mystic
Across Eastern Connecticut, we provide pool renovation, plaster repair, resurfacing, and spa updates for residential properties—particularly older gunite pools that require structural evaluation before cosmetic improvements. The focus remains on clean execution, correct preparation, and finishes that hold up over time.
Rhode Island & Southern Massachusetts Pools (By Request)
While most projects are based in Connecticut, GS Rose Construction accepts select pool renovation, repair, and gunite construction work in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts near the Connecticut border. Projects outside Connecticut are evaluated individually to ensure they meet our standards for access, scope, and execution.

Why Choose GS Rose Construction for Pool Renovation and Repair in Connecticut?
Greg Rose entered the pool industry in 1985 and has worked through nearly every phase of gunite pool construction, renovation, and structural repair.
That experience includes:
New gunite pool and spa construction
Coping and tile installation
Plaster and resurfacing work
Bond beam and structural correction
Leak-related repairs
Decades in the field provide perspective that helps identify problems early, before cosmetic finishes are discussed.
Structural repair focuses on correcting underlying issues, not just surface symptoms.
Common repairs include:
Bond beam deterioration
Structural cracks in gunite shells
Movement-related damage
Failing coping connections
Repair work tied to persistent water loss
Each issue is evaluated carefully before finishes are discussed.
Yes. Many projects involve older gunite pools that require resurfacing, bond beam repair, coping replacement, or structural correction before cosmetic updates.
Older pools often need:
Shell evaluation
Plaster removal and replacement
Tile line updates
Masonry integration
New England freeze–thaw cycles make proper prep especially important.
Resurfacing isn’t just applying new plaster. Preparation determines longevity.
Our resurfacing process focuses on:
Proper removal of failing material
Correct surface preparation
Structural inspection before finish application
Plaster installed to manufacturer standards
The goal isn’t just a smooth finish, it’s a finish that lasts.
We address leak-related structural issues when water loss is connected to cracks, bond beam failure, or tile line separation.
Leak-related work may involve:
Structural crack repair
Bond beam reconstruction
Tile and coping correction
Plumbing access during renovation
Projects are evaluated case by case.
Yes. Coping and waterline tile replacement are commonly included in pool renovation projects.
This may involve:
Removing deteriorated coping
Bond beam repair
Installing new stone coping
Replacing waterline tile
Ensuring proper integration with deck transitions
Level lines and structural stability are prioritized.
Surface wear alone may call for resurfacing.
However, full renovation is more likely when:
Structural cracks are present
Coping is shifting
Bond beam deterioration exists
Tile separation is visible
Repeated leak repairs have failed
The condition of the shell and surrounding components guides the decision.
